The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie – Red Hot Chili Peppers

7198809842_f4a180a2ef_mWe’ve invoked Beyonce. We’ve invoked Led Zeppelin. It’s not working. There’s less rain in New York than on a Blind Melon album. We’re dying to show off the new ‘brellaBox. Before we take drastic measures (namely Fat Joe and Lil Wayne – you know what we’re talking about), we have one last hope – the gods of funk rock. It may not make a whole lot of sense to look to an LA band for rain, but we’re running out of choices. So, for this week’s Singin’ in the Parched Sahara Desert, we’re bringing you the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie” is from the Chili Peppers’ tenth album, I’m With You. It spent a full month on top of the Billboard Alternative Chart and basically took over everyone’s life for a while in the summer of 2011. It’s about a girl named Maggie, but we’re not really sure what’s happening with her life. Much like with Zeppelin, we’re not in a position to interpret. The point is that she seems to be having a good time and she knows how to make the rain fall. We’re fully behind both of those things. Because, seriously, “We’ve got to make it rain somehow.” In other news, we’d like to meet Anthony Keidis’s dermatologist. Seriously, the guy was an addict for ages and he looks like he’s 25. Give it a listen:
