Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again – The Fortunes

7346833044_05a7b22e71_mThe name of the song says it all. Every time we think Spring has sprung, the doom and gloom come back to haunt us. It’s dark and depressing out today and we’re over it. That’s not to say that we don’t like the rain. On the contrary, we’re quite fond of it. It gives us a chance to show off our sweet umbrellas. We’d just like a little assurance from Mother Nature that winter is, in fact, over. We’re ready to brunch outside and hang out on our rooftops. For now, we’ll have to settle for a night in with Netflix.

This 1971 tune manages to make rainy days and broken hearts sound cheerful – and everyone needs a little boost on a day like this. The singer’s sweetheart has left him all alone and it seems to him like every day is a rainy Monday. Despite the sad theme, the tone is upbeat and the harmonies are lovely. We can tell that he believes the sun will come out soon, and we’re hoping he’s right. Give it a listen.
