Heavy Cloud, No Rain – Sting

Kasa0078.jpgSo, we’re back to begging for rain in NYC. It was supposed to rain yesterday, but no dice. Supposed to rain today, but no joy so far. It’s cloudy and sad, so we can’t even go to the beach, but it’s dry as a bone! Our poor ‘brellaBox isn’t getting any love with the weather like this! We’re positively dying of umbrella deprivation and general frustration. The good news is that we found someone who shares our pain – Sting.

Sting, the one and only. He’s won 16 Grammy Awards between his time with the Police and his solo career. He’s a member of the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He’s 62 and he still rocks a scarf better than any Williamsburg coed! We have just one question, courtesy of our college roommate. When Sting retires (may that day be far, far away), will he change his name to Stung?

For this week’s Singin’ in the Rain, we’re playing a track from his 1993 album, Ten Summoner’s Tales: “Heavy Cloud, No Rain.” In this track, Sting laments, “I needed sweet rain to wash away my blues.” We hear you, Sting. We’re with you. Give it a listen:
